Chris Matthysse is a member of the firm’s estate planning practice group. He specializes in trusts, estate planning, estate and gift taxation, probate, will and trust contests, guardianships, conservatorships, Medicaid and elder law.
His clients range from young parents planning ahead for their children to retired individuals and the families of deceased loved ones. His case load varies, handling estate and probate administration one day, while providing counsel to clients regarding estate law or trust vehicles the next day. Clients often seek his assistance with difficult decisions and disputes.
With an understanding that estate planning can be emotional for his clients, Chris skillfully provides calm and objective counsel — asking the hard questions and discussing choices openly to help clients make informed decisions and feel more secure and peaceful about the future.
His favorite part of estate planning is sitting down to hear each client’s story, goals and desired future — then helping the client realize that unique vision. He also enjoys speaking to community groups about estate planning issues, and supporting continuing legal education for other attorneys regarding estate planning and elder law.
