Bob specializes in municipal law and tax-exempt financing. He acts as bond counsel to counties, cities, villages, townships, and various authorities that issue bonds to finance the construction and acquisition of water and sewer systems, road improvements, airports, storm water facilities, and all types of public buildings and facilities.

Bob has more than 25 years of experience in the area of municipal finance, and was the first attorney from a West Michigan based law firm to be recognized as bond counsel.

In his years as a municipal law specialist, Bob acted as general counsel to the City of Kentwood and Alpine Charter Township, and has been special counsel to numerous other municipalities.

A Grand Rapids native, Bob earned his law degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1964. He was an East Grand Rapids City Commissioner from 1970 until 1974. He is a member of the Grand Rapids and the American Bar Associations, sits on the Committee on Legal Education for the State Bar of Michigan, and is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Bob is on the Board of the Grand Rapids Urban League and GROW (Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women) and acts as counsel to the North American Indian Center.
